Tripura School Sports Board is the biggest Organization of Sports in the State at the School level. Initially structure of this Organization was different from what is today. In early 60’s the Organization namely Tripura School Sports Association started it’s working. Initially it was an Organization of the Physical Instructors. But the Organization keeps changing as per the necessity. In 70’s this Organization took the shape of Ad-hoc Committee, which last for 3 decades. Ultimately Government considering the importance of the Organization gives the status of a Board.
Today this Organization spread its wing upto the Block level in the State. In the State level there is a State level Board headed by the Director, Youth Affairs & Sports Department, thereafter in the District level and in all Block level the Board is working with respective unit.
The main motto of the Sports policy of the State is “SPORTS FOR ALL”. Keeping this motto in the view Tripura School Sports Board is organizing different Games & Sports among the School students of the State and sending teams in the National Competitions. At the same time the Board is organizing Coaching camp prior to National Competitions.
Tripura School Sports Board is an affiliated unit of School Games Federation of India (SGFI) and as an affiliated unit the Board is organizing National level competitions as an when entrusted the SGFI.
